Learners will be awarded an IOSH Managing Safety Certificate upon successful completion of the assessments.

The course provides an introduction to occupational health and safety, which includes: assessing risks; controlling risks; understanding responsibilities; understanding common workplace hazards; investigating incidents, and measuring performance.

This course can be delivered at client premises and in fact, this can often result in considerable cost savings. For a bespoke quote, please contact us so that we can discuss delegate numbers and location enabling us to keep the cost as competitive as possible for you. Alternatively, for individual bookings, why not check out our upcoming courses which could be classroom-based or virtual using Microsoft Teams. If the course you are interested in is not listed in the calendar, please contact us to enquire about the next course date.

    Should you attend?

This course is designed for Managers and Supervisors in any sector and any organisation worldwide. This course won’t make you a health and safety expert, but it will bring you up to speed on the practical actions you need to take and provide the knowledge and tools to tackle the safety and health issues you are responsible for. This course may also be useful for Health and Safety Reps or company ‘Champions’.

By the end of the training, delegates will be able to:

    • Apply basic management and practices to safety and health issues as part of a total management strategy
    • Understand why incidents happen and how to undertake a suitable investigation
    • Understand the basic principles of risk assessment, developing control strategies and measuring performance
    • Be familiar with the employer’s, manager’s and employee’s legal and moral responsibilities for health and safety.
    • Have the capacity to communicate effectively on health and safety matters

Recognise the health and safety hazards in the workplace and the type of action which may be needed to control and manage them.

This course is usually delivered across 3-days in a classroom environment, although this can be extended to 4 days if Managers want to focus in greater depth on industry-specific hazards.

There is the flexibility to deliver one day per week across three weeks.

Alternatively, the course can now be delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams or a software platform of your choice.

    Exam format

A 1-hour examination paper is consisting mainly of multiple-choice questions and a work-based risk assessment.

This qualification does not expire, however refresher training and keeping up to date with changes to legislation is strongly advisable to keep the qualification current. The IOSH Managing Safely Refresher is recommended for this purpose and can be taken by delegates who have attended the IOSH Managing safely Course within the last three years.
