As our family business expanded, we recognised the legal requirement to have documented policies and procedures in place. In addition, the Kellsafe team developed a construction phase plan template and various inspection checklists to support us in fulfilling our responsibilities as Principal Contractor, which we adapt and use at the start of every new project. As an additional service, Kelly personally made a successful application for Safe Contractor on our behalf, which allows us to demonstrate to our clients that we have the necessary health and safety arrangements in place to ensure the safety of our workers, visitors and contractors on our sites.

We have worked with Kellsafe since 2017 when we engaged Kelly Holifield to support our company with its health and safety, following the retirement of our previous industry-specific health and safety consultant. Kelly is highly qualified within the health and safety industry and has proven herself to be very technically knowledgeable, as well as extremely personable and helpful. Our former health and safety consultant worked solely within the laundry industry, and we wondered whether we would miss out on that in-house knowledge. However, we have not found that to be the case, and Kelly has been able to use the experience she has gained across the many organisations she has worked with to provide broad-reaching advice and support. She provides twice-yearly audits, as well as ad hoc advice whenever needed. Her reports have been detailed, yet concise, and have provided a good review of how we are doing. The recommendations have been well organised and with good advice, not only on what standard was achieved, but also on how to achieve higher standards. Last year, she suggested CTS should apply to ROSPA for a health and safety award, which we applied for at the end of January 2020. As a result, we have achieved a Gold Award, which we were delighted about. We would definitely not have entered without Kelly’s encouragement and belief in us and our health and safety practices. We would highly recommend Kelly’s services. She provides an extremely professional service, but is also supportive and approachable. We have continued to retain her services and have just renewed her annual contract again.

Kelly is an excellent example of teaching with compassion and concern for her pupils. She makes all aspects of learning pleasurable, and is thoughtful, thorough, and understanding with all levels of participants. Kelly gets 10 out of 10 from me, and I’m sure she will get the same from everyone.

I highly recommend KellSafe, having just undertaken the IOSH Managing Safely. I came away from the course after learning a huge amount about my responsibilities and accountability regarding Health and Safety. All the sessions were engaging and relevant, delivered in a well-structured format with that all-important injection of humour. Kelly, who trained us, was incredibly knowledgeable and used industry-specific examples tailored to each delegate in the course, this made the content even more relevant and interesting. Lastly, we were provided with effective and fun revision sessions, which resulted in one of us winning chocolate! (More importantly, it resulted in us all passing). Overall, I have come away from the course not only to be more confident, but to be able to better discharge my managerial duties regarding Health & Safety.

I attended the IOSH Managing Safety course run by Kelly Holifield in January 2019. With previously limited H&S experience, along with seven other attendees from various backgrounds (from Production to Marketing), I now fully appreciate the importance of H&S. I have a far more comprehensive understanding of how to manage risks and effectively apply H&S. Kelly conducted an initial health and safety assessment at our holiday rental property, conducted a risk assessment throughout, advised on what steps we should take to mitigate potential risks, and also drafted a safety information notice that informs all guests of the steps they should take to ensure a safe holiday. I’ve since asked Kelly to return to ensure that the updates we’ve made to the house are sufficient. Kelly is very easy to work with, communicates clearly and succinctly, and has been entirely pragmatic in her approach. We would thoroughly recommend Kelly conduct similar work.
